Here in central Virginia, Spring is finally limping in. I welcome it! This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 20th. Hopefully, the weather will be nice enough for pretty Easter dresses and Easter egg hunts! I don't know about you, but as a child growing up in North Carolina, Easter was a big deal. Mama took me shopping for a new dress, white patent leather shoes, frilly ankle socks, white gloves, and a hat. My brother got a new suit, shirt, shoes, the whole thing. We HAD to keep those clothes clean or else! Easter, when I was growing up, was a time of worship, and fellowship. If we didn't go to the sunrise service, we went to "regular church". Mama always cooked a big Easter lunch. After church, relatives would come to the house and eat, then visit a while. It was like Christmas in springtime!
One of my favorite Easter traditions, was the church Easter egg hunt. It was so much fun to run around and find those (candy) eggs. This year, my youngest granddaughter, Claire, will be participating in her 1st Easter egg hunt. It seems like yesterday that it was her mother all dressed up, hunting those eggs. Easter is still a big deal in my family. Thanks to her Grammie, Claire has a beautiful Easter dress. We will attend church this year and have Easter lunch. I am so grateful for everyone and everything God has placed in my life. With His Grace, we are blessed.
